Bloodborne on the Deck, built from the port

FromSoftware has not shipped a PC version. This is the practical way to build bbport, the unofficial Linux port, and the shadPS4 setup to use if you would rather hunt than compile.

Your copy. Nobody else’s.

Both routes need a decrypted dump of Bloodborne you already own, patched to 1.09. Nothing here links game files, keys, or firmware. The port and the emulator are separate community projects.

  1. Stay on the internal drive. A microSD will hitch every time a new shader or texture streams in.

    • The dump itself is tens of gigabytes. Leave about 60 GB free.
    • The AppImage is ~399 MB. The first launch can unpack another ~2 GB into your home cache.
    • A from-source build plus Nix is several gigabytes more. Skip that unless you want the git tip.

Hold the power button and choose Switch to Desktop. Everything below happens in Desktop Mode until the last step.

When it breaks

Crashes before the menu

The dump is almost always 1.00, or eboot.bin still has a 60 fps patch baked in. The port and the emulator both want a clean 1.09.

Cannot mount AppImage

Use TMPDIR=$HOME/.cache APPIMAGE_EXTRACT_AND_RUN=1 NO_CLEANUP=1 in front of the command. In Steam, put those variables before %command%.

Spiky geometry

On shadPS4, install the Vertex Explosion Fix and stay at 720p or 540p. On the port, drop FSR experiments and restart at 1280×720 with FSR 3.1 or no upscaler.

Black window after picking FSR 4

The port falls back when the GPU lacks the shader features, but some NVIDIA chips go black instead. Use FSR 3. The Deck is AMD; start on 3.1 anyway.

Stutter that never quite ends

Shader cache still filling, or the game is on a microSD. Give it one full trip through the area, and move the files to the SSD.

Doubled performance numbers

MangoHud and Steam’s overlay are both drawing. Turn one off.
